Company founder John Davey, a professional tennis player turned New York
businessman, was plagued with back pain for nearly 20 years.  Each and every
day, he was dependent on over-the-counter pain relievers to achieve at
least some degree of comfort.

That suddenly changed, however, during a visit to his home
state of Michigan. After a few days of munching on one of his
favorite childhood treats – juicy Montmorency tart cherries –
it wasn’t long before he noticed a marked decrease in
his back pain.

Inquisitive by nature, Davey decided this was worth
investigating. He discovered that cherries had long
been considered a natural remedy around the world
for aches and pains, and as a natural sleep aid.  Then he learned that capturing the cherry’s maximum potency into a bottle would be a challenge, because standard commercial methods of making fruit juice would significantly reduce the cherries’ naturally high antioxidant and anthocyanins levels.
